About Miss Callen
In 2013 I moved to Kalamazoo to study at Western Michigan University where I will be graduating in May of 2019. I will have earned a Secondary Education Major in Mathematics with a Minor in Secondary Education English and American Sign Language Studies. Prior to WMU, I grew up in Vicksburg, Michigan where I got my first experience teaching as a senior in High School when I was a teachers' assistant for a sixth grade reading class. Along with that, I spent a semester interning in a geometry classroom (grades 10-12) at Mattawan High School as well as a semester interning in an ELA 9 and 10 classroom at Three Rivers High School. Additionally, I have subbed in the various districts around Kalamazoo County, and worked at Portage Northern High School in their Directed Learning Room.
Currently I am interning at Portage Central High School teaching Algebra 1. I am also working with Mrs. Knect for a short period each day learning more about ASL and Deaf education. When I'm taking a study break, you'd probably find me running around town. Along with running distance, I love experimenting with DIY projects, cooking new things, going camping and hiking, spending time with my friends and family, playing soccer, or attending local events! I love to be involved with my community.
